Application Procedure

KU Campus The Department of Molecular Biosciences adheres to the standards set forth by the Graduate School for admission of new students. Applicants are evaluated and ranked based on overall grades, performance in science courses, three recommendation letters, Graduate Record Examination scores and, when applicable, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and, TSE (Test of Spoken English) scores.

Application Materials for the Graduate Program in Molecular Biosciences at the University of Kansas include:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. One official copies of all academic transcripts
    International applicants: one in English, and one in native language
  3. Curriculum Vitae or Resume (1-2 pages)
  4. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
    Required: General
  5. Three letters of recommendation from qualified individuals (Graduate Letter of Recommendation Form)
  6. A Statement of Aims - a description of applicants research interests and goals
  7. Application Fee (made payable to the University of Kansas)
    a. Domestic Students: $55 (paper) or $45 (online)
    b. International Students: $60 (paper) or $55 (online)
  8. International applicants
    Required: Internet-based TOEFL (iBT)

For acceptance in the fall semester, your application file must be complete by December 15. If you do not apply directly online, paper applications and application fees should be sent to:
